Learn how to properly peel one tomatoes to make Italian pasta sauces and soups.

Preparation

Using a paring knife, remove the core of the tomato and make a cross-shaped incision on the bottom. Bring a large pot of water to a boil, then blanch the tomatoes for about 15 seconds.

As soon as the skin of the tomatoes start to curl around the incision, remove the tomatoes from the water and immediately plunge them into a bowl of ice to stop the cooking process. Once cool, remove the tomatoes from the ice, dry and remove the outer peel.

If you love to make creative garnishes, instead of throwing the peels, dry them in the microwave for about 6 minutes in order to make beautiful decorations for your favorite recipes.
