Ingredients for 8 people


1 BOX Barilla® Mezze Penne
1 JAR Barilla® Marinara sauce
2 POUNDS Fresh Mussels Scrubbed
1/4 TEASPOON Saffron
2 TABLESPOONS Fresh Italian Parsley Chopped



Preparation 15 minutes preparation + 35 minutes cooking
1. BRING a large pot of water to a boil

2. PLACE mussels in large skillet over medium heat and cover

3. Allow mussels to steam in their own juices until all are opened and slightly firm

4. Remove from heat

5. TRANSFER  mussels to bowl reserving liquid in a separate bowl

6. When cool enough to handle, remove from shell

7. Discard shells

8. ADD Marinara Sauce to skillet

9. Add saffron and juices from mussels

10. Season with salt and pepper

11. Simmer 5-10 minutes

12. COOK Mezze Penne according to package directions

13. Drain and add Mezze Penne to sauce

14. Add parsley

15. Mix well
