Ingredients for 7 people


1 box Barilla® Whole Grain Rotini
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 clove garlic
1 small red onion
1/4 cup tomato sauce
1/2 cup fresh lentils (tiny lentils from Castelluccio)
4 ounces salami (preferably from Norcia)
2 bay leaves
2 tablespoons red wine
Pinch of summer savory
Salt and pepper to taste



Preparation 45 minutes preparation + 11 minutes cooking
1. Peel and finely chop onion

2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat, add crushed garlic and onion

3. When golden, add diced salami and, after a couple of minutes, red wine

4. When the wine has evaporated, stir in lentils and add enough water to cover the salami completely

5. Season with salt and pepper, add summer savory and bay leaves

6. Cook for about 30 minutes, stirring every so often, and add sauce

7. Make sure the sauce does not thicken too much

8. Boil whole wheat farfalle in plenty of salted water according to package directions

9. Drain and toss with the sauce

10. Garnish with a summer savory leaf
