Ingredients for 7 people


1 box Barilla® Whole Grain Spaghetti
3 ea roma tomatoes
2 red bell peppers
2 cloves garlic
5 ounces bacon or pancetta
8 leaves basil
1/2 cup Pecorino cheese grated
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Salt to taste



Preparation 45 minutes preparation + 20 minutes cooking
1. Dice bacon

2. Wash, seed and core pepper and cut into pieces

3. Boil in water for 2 minutes

4. Cut an X on the bottom of the tomatoes and blanch in hot water for 40 seconds

5. Cool by immersing in cold water, peel, quarter and seed the tomatoes

6. Purée tomatoes and peppers using a food mill or a food processor

7. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and sauté peeled garlic and bacon until golden

8. Add tomato and pepper purée

9. Season with salt, combine and cook for 10 minutes

10. Stir in basil

11. In the meantime, boil pasta in plenty of salted water according to package directions

12. Drain and toss with the prepared sauce

13. Sprinkle with grated Pecorino cheese and serve immediately
