Preparation 5 minutes preparation + 3 minutes cooking

Heat oven broiler and toast bread slices until golden on both sides. Remove from oven. While still hot, rub with a peeled clove of garlic.

Arrange on a serving platter, season with salt and pepper (if desired) and drizzle with plenty of olive oil. This simple preparation is very popular in Lazio.
