1 3/4 pound dried figs
5 1/4 ounces almonds
2 cloves
2 1/2 ounces candied citron peel
Pinch of cinnamon
3 1/2 ounces dark chocolate grated
1/3 cup sugar

Preparation 20 minutes preparation + 5 minutes cooking

Slightly toast almonds in a preheated 350°F oven. Cut the dried figs open and put an almond in the middle. Sprinkle with crushed cloves and a few pieces of candied citron peel.

Press close with your fingers and arrange on a baking dish. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven until golden. Remove and immediately roll in a mixture of grated dark chocolate and sugar.

Alternatively, according to a more traditional method, melt chocolate in a saucepan with a dash of cinnamon. Dip baked figs in melted chocolate.

Chocolate covered figs can be stored in wood or tin boxes lined with parchment paper.
