Ingredients for 4 people

8 cups flour

2 cups sugar

2 eggs

1 heaping tablespoon baking powder

grated zest of 1 lemon

½ pound butter

milk as needed

Preparation 15 minutes preparation + 30 minutes cooking
1. Soften butter at room temperature for at least 45 minutes prior to starting

2. In a bowl, combine eggs and sugar, then add butter and lemon zest

3. Gradually incorporate flour (preferably sifted) and milk in a steady stream, until it forms a soft mixture

4. Add baking powder and mix well

5. Grease a mold, pour in mixture and bake in a preheated 400°F oven

6. After about 30 minutes, check for doneness

7. When the top of the ciambella [ring cake] turns dark golden brown, remove it from the oven and set aside to cool before serving
