Famous Food & Wine Roads

Academia Barilla offers a 5-day tour, available year-round, of the backroads of the Parma countryside.
Tour vineyards and visit the producers of the prized Culatello di Zibello, porcini mushrooms from Borgotaro, unmistakable Parmigiano-Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma. Immerse yourself fully in the gastronomic traditions of Emilia: the Academia Barilla chefs are ready to show you the secrets of traditional, regional recipes.
Join them for a private cooking class that will teach you how to make these satisfying dishes, step by step.

Day 1 - Benvenuti a Parma

Piazza Duomo 1, Parma

Arrive in Parma and check into your luxury hotel room. Visit the city. Head into the center for a traditional Italian aperitivo, or pre-dinner drink. Then, dine in one of the city’s many charming restaurants.
The tour includes: luxury hotel accommodations, guided tours of Parma and the countryside, lunch and dinner at the city’s top restaurants, hands-on cooking classes with Academia Barilla chefs, visits to local producers of Parmigiano-Reggiano, Prosciutto di Parma, and Culatello di Zibello, and tasting sessions of all the region’s finest products.

Day 2 - The Road to Culatello di Zibello

Visit Parma’s countryside, travelling along the banks of the Po River in search of enchanting castles and opera-composer Giuseppe Verdi’s legacy. Then, spend some time visiting an artisanal Culatello di Zibello producer, and taste what is considered to be the King of Italian Salumi. Return to Parma for a private, hands-on cooking class with Academia Barilla chefs. Learn the basics of the region’s greatest recipes, full of flavor, aroma and tradition.

Day 3 - The Road to Prosciutto and Colli di Parma Wines

Strada Mulino, Langhirano PR

Guided visits to Parmigiano-Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma production facilities, and tastings of their top products. A walk around the Castello di Torrechiara, a 15th-century castle located in Langhirano, just south of Parma. Hands-on cooking class with Academia Barilla chefs. Learn the secrets of regional Italian recipes and taste the fruits of your labor!

Day 4 - The Road to Porcini Mushrooms of Borgotaro

Via Perini 1, Berceto PR

Travel to Berceto, Corchia and Borgo Val di Taro to taste the traditional dishes of the region, based on porcini mushrooms and truffles. A walk around the Castello di Compiano and medieval towns. Lunch and dinner in the finest restaurants in the area.

Day 5 - Arrivederci
