The basil harvest

1. The Basil Harvest

100% Italian and always very fresh: we harvest the Italian basil while still full of flavour. Every year, about 2000 tons of sweet and fragrant basil are harvested in our fields of Parma to join our production site, ready to be mixed with the other ingredients of Pesto.

2. Quality Checking, washing, drying and mixing

After the harvest, the basil is transported to our production site and within two hours of arrival, we monitor, wash and dry carefully. The basil is then mixed with other ingredients including PDO Parmigiano Reggiano.

3. It's ready!

Finally, we put the Pesto in the jars and here it is: it’s ready for your delicious recipes! Barilla's Pesto Genovese is inspired by the traditional recipe and is full of flavour. It is prepared without any added preservatives or dyes.
