The origin of Pappardelle, the largest of egg pasta shapes, is attributed to Italy's Central-Southern regions, like Tuscany, where Pappardelle is used in traditional cuisine. The name Pappardells is derived from the Tuscan dialect verb "pappare" which means "to eat with almost childlike joy and pleasure."

This wide, velvety egg noodle has a relatively soft texture.  Our pappardelle pasta is wonderful with chunky, ragu-style sauces, which usually contains ground meat, tomatoes and onions. For a vegetarian dish, try it with remolata (a topping with parsley, garlic and lemon zest).

    Our Chef’s tip



    Bring 4 - 5 litres of water to a rolling boil. Add salt to taste.


    Add contents of package to boiling water. Stir gently.


    Return to a boil. For authentic "al dente" pasta, boil uncovered, stirring occasionally for 7 minutes. For more tender pasta, boil an additional 1 minute.


    Remove from heat. Drain well.


    Serve immediately with your favourite sauce.
