Ingredients

Ingredients for 8 people

  • 1 box Barilla® Lasagne
  • 4 tablespoons (60 mL) extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 diced medium onion
  • 1 pound (454 g) Italian sausage
  • ½ cup (125 mL) white wine (optional)
  • 2 24-ounce (710 mL) jars of marinara sauce
  • 1 15-ounce (444 mL) container fresh ricotta
  • 1 cup (340 g) mozzarella cheese, diced
  • ½ cup (170 g) Parmigiano-Reggiano (reserve 1 tablespoon (15 mL) for top)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 ˚F
  • Cook pasta according to package directions
  • In a large skillet sauté onions in oil until translucent, about five minutes, then add sausage, salt, pepper and brown well until cooked through
  • (Optional) Deglaze sausage with wine and reduce
  • Add 3 ½ cups (875 mL) sauce to the sausage mixture, bring to a boil
  • Spray a 13 X 9” baking dish with cooking spray
  • Pour 1 cup (250 mL) of sauce on the bottom
  • Layer 5 sheets of lasagne, top with 1 cup of sausage mixture, ½ cup (170 g) ricotta and 2 tablespoons (30 mL) of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
  • Repeat for 2 more layers
  • On the top layer pour the remaining sauce and cover with foil
  • Bake in pre-heated oven for 20 minutes
  • Top Lasagne with mozzarella and the Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
  • Re-cover with foil and continue baking for another 10 minutes
  • Before cutting the Lasagne, let it rest for 5 minutes
