With smooth and al dente Barilla Penne Lisce, rich pancetta, and an abundance of mushrooms, this quick and easy dinner recipe is an umami lover’s dream.

Ingredients 5 Number of Servings

1 box Barilla Penne Lisce pasta

4 oz pancetta, diced

2 garlic cloves, chopped

4 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil

250g mushrooms, sliced

2 cups tomato puree

¼ cup basil, sliced

½ cup Parmigiano cheese, shredded

TT salt and black pepper

Instructions

  • Place a pot of water to boil; cook Barilla Penne Lisce pasta al dente, according to packaging directions.

  • Meanwhile in a skillet sauté pancetta until rendered and crispy, discard liquid and set pancetta aside. In the same skillet sauté garlic with olive oil for 1 minute, add mushrooms and brown, about five minutes.

  • Stir in tomatoes, season with salt and pepper and bring to simmer, cook for 10 minutes. 

  • Drain Barilla Penne Lisce pasta and toss with sauce and pancetta 6. Top with basil and cheese before serving.
