Barilla pesto is made using “metodo delicato” – also known as the delicate method. Carefully crafted in Italy with high-quality ingredients, our pesto provides irresistible flavor to a variety of dishes.

DELICATE PREPARATION
At our plant in Rubbiano, we slowly mix all the ingredients of our creamy recipes to ensure a consistent texture. To best preserve the original color, aroma and flavor of the ingredients, we mix them at cold temperatures.
For our Rustic Basil Pesto, we slowly sauté the ingredients at a low temperature to maintain their natural texture and appearance.
For our Creamy Genovese Pesto, we grate whole wheels of Parmigiano Reggiano PDO cheese just before adding it to the recipe to preserve the natural aroma.

QUICK BUT GENTLE HEAT TREAMENT
Quality first! Our heat treatment uses cutting-edge techniques to guarantee 100% safe preservation of our pesto through shelf-life.

IN THE SHORTEST TIME POSSIBLE
It’s important for us to prepare our pesto in a timely manner so we avoid stressing the key ingredients like basil. From start to finish, our pesto is jarred in less than three hours!
