Pesto pro-tip: Barilla Executive Chef Lorenzo Boni has a go-to recipe for making homemade pesto in a mortar. Start by smashing pine nuts with garlic and a little course sea salt. Then, add basil and mash all the ingredients together. Slowly stir in extra-virgin olive oil, grated pecorino Romano cheese and black pepper, and – voila! Your homemade pesto is good to go. Or, if you’re not feeling up to the effort, you can always just go for Barilla’s jarred classic basil pesto. We won’t tell anyone.
