Ingredients for 8 people      

  • 1 BOX Barilla® Mezze Penne
  • 1 JAR Barilla® Marinara Sauce
  • 4 TABLESPOONS Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 CUP Shallots Diced
  • 3 CUPS Button Mushrooms Sliced
  • 1/2 CUP Ricotta Cheese
  • 10 LEAVES Fresh Basil Julienne


  • BRING a large pot of water to a boil
  • HEAT olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat
  • ADD shallots and sauté 5 minutes or until translucent
  • ADD mushrooms and cook for 3-4 minutes
  • SEASON mixture with salt and pepper to taste
  • ADD Marinara Sauce and ricotta cheese to skillet; mix well and simmer for 4 minutes
  • COOK pasta according to package directions
  • DRAIN and toss with sauce
  • TOSS with chopped basil
