Barilla® Collezione Orecchiette with Rapini, Mussels & Romano Cheese



Ingredients for 6 people

  • 1 box Barilla® Collezione Orecchiette
  • 25 each mussels
  • ½ cup white wine
  • 5 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove sliced thin
  • Red pepper flakes to taste
  • ½ bunch rapini (broccoli rabe) boiled drained and roughly chopped
  • ½ cup Romano cheese

    Steam mussels with wine in a small pot covered with a lid until they are all opened and cooked through, about five minutes

    Discard 2/3 of the shells but reserve the released liquid
  3. 3
    Bring a large pot of water to a boil
  4. 4
    Cook pasta according to package directions
  5. 5
    Meanwhile sauté garlic with olive oil and red pepper
  6. 6
    When garlic starts to turn slightly yellow add rapini and sauté well
  7. 7
    Add mussels, 1/3 shells and bring to a boil in their cooking liquid
  8. 8
    Drain pasta, stir with rapini mixture, and finish with Romano cheese before serving
