Ingredients for 4 people

  • 8 Slices, Whole wheat bread
  • 4 Tbsp butter, softened
  • 4 Tbsp Barilla® Rustic Basil Pesto
  • 6 ounces fresh mozzarella, cut into ½-inch-thick slices
  • 2 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup lightly packed fresh basil leaves

  • Heat a 12 inch skillet over medium
  • To assemble sandwiches, spread both sides of bread with butter. Place roll slices, a few at a time, in the sandwich press or indoor grill. Cover and cook about 4 minutes or until bread is toasted, turning if necessary
  • Immediately after bread is toasted, spread 3 tablespoons pesto on half of the roll slices. Top with mozzarella, tomato slices, and a few fresh basil leaves. Top with the remaining bread slices
  • Cook in skillet until well browned, add the remaining butter to the skillet and flip each sandwich. Cook until the cheese is melted and the sandwich is browned
