Italian Cheese and Pesto Grilled Cheese

Ingredients for 4 people

  • 8 slices crusty multigrain bread
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 ounces Barilla® Basil Pesto
  • ½ cup baby kale leaves
  • 8 ounces sliced Fontina Cheese
  • 1 Granny smith apple, sliced thin into rounds

    Heat a 12 inch skillet over medium
  2. 2
    Spread one side of each slice of bread with butter
  3. 3
    On the inside of each slice, spread 1 to 2 tablespoons pesto. Top half the slices with the baby kale, Fontina cheese and sliced apple. Top with the remaining bread slices

    Cook in skillet until well browned, add the remaining butter to the skillet and flip each sandwich. Cook until the cheese is melted and the sandwich is browned
