Ingredients for 6 people

  • 1 box Barilla® White Fiber Rotini
  • 1 jar Barilla® Marinara Sauce
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, divided
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup low-fat mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • ¾ cup bread and butter pickles, diced
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, diced
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded salt and pepper to taste


  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil and preheat oven to 375° F.
  • Cook pasta according to package directions – but remove it from the heat and drain it half-way through. Toss with 1 tablespoon olive oil and place on a tray to cool down.
  • In a large skillet, cook onions in one tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat for about 10 minutes and remove them from the skillet.
  • Add the remaining olive oil and ground beef to the skillet and sauté for 5-6 minutes or until lightly browned and cooked through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add the marinara sauce and water to the ground beef. Bring to a simmer and fold in the pasta. Transfer to a 9" x 9” baking dish and top with a layer of mayonnaise, dollops of mustard, pickles, tomatoes, onions and spread the cheddar cheese over the top.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and brown the cheese for 5 minutes.
