Ingredients

1 boxBarilla Heart Shaped Love Pasta

5Italian sausage links

2 tbspbutter

1/2fennel bulb, sliced finely

1small yellow onion, sliced finely

1/2 cupwhite wine (or chicken broth)

3 clovesgarlic, minced

Salt & Pepper to taste

2 1/2 cupsHeavy cream

1/2 cuppasta water (+ more optional)

1/2 cupGrated parmesan

Squeeze of fresh lemon juice

Method

Step 1

Heat a large pan on medium heat. Remove the sausage meat from their casings.

Step 2

Add the sausage meat to the pan and crumble as it browns. Cook for 7-10 minutes or until crispy and golden. Remove from heat.

Step 3

Add butter to melt in the same pan on medium heat. Add the fennel and onion and sauté until softened and golden brown. Season with salt & pepper.

Step 4

Add wine to deglaze and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Add garlic and cook until fragrant. Then add the heavy cream and bring to a simmer.

Step 6

Cook your pasta in salted boiling water for 7 minutes until al dente. Set aside pasta water for sauce.

Step 7

When the cream is thickened slightly, add in your cooked pasta, parmesan and pasta water and stir to combine.

Step 8

Just before serving, add your lemon juice. Then stir and enjoy with extra parmesan!
