1 cupmarinara sauce

1/2 ptcherry tomatoes, halved

12 ozsweet Italian sausage

1garlic clove, crushed

3 tbspExtra virgin olive oil

1/2small onion, diced

1red pepper, small diced

1yellow pepper, small diced

2Calabrian peppers, sliced (optional)

1/2 cupParmigiano Reggiano cheese, grated

1 tbspparsley, chopped

To tasteSalt and black pepper

Chef's tip

This recipe can also be made using Barilla Penne Rigate pasta or any short pasta shape.

Step 1

Bring a large pot of water to a boil, cook Barilla Love Heart Shaped Pasta according to package directions.

Step 2

Meanwhile, in a skillet over medium heat add olive oil and cook sausage until brown.

Step 3

Add onion, peppers, tomatoes, and garlic. Season with salt and pepper.

Step 4

Sauté until soft, 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Add Calabrian peppers to the desired spice level and marinara sauce. Cook an additional 2-3 minutes.

Step 6

Drain pasta and add to the sauce with ½ of the cheese. Mix well and top with remaining cheese. Garnish with parsley.
