Barilla Pasta is a Nutritious and Clean Food with a Low Carbon Footprint
There are so many reasons to eat pasta—it is delicious, easy to cook and affordable. It’s also versatile because it makes a great base for a wide array of other healthy ingredients like lean proteins, vegetables, legumes and fruits.
Barilla pasta is a clean food that is made with just two ingredients—water and durum wheat*. It is an enriched refined grain with no added sugars or solid fats, and because it is a plant-based food, it has a lower carbon footprint than other animal-based foods.
The durum wheat Barilla uses to make its pasta is tested to ensure that it has levels of mycotoxins (a group of naturally occurring chemicals produced by certain molds) that are far below the legal tolerance levels, which are already very conservative.
Pasta is also a complex carbohydrate with a low glycemic index. Low-GI foods—those with a GI value of 55 or lower—take longer to affect blood sugar levels and are processed slowly by your body. As a result, they provide steady energy and keep you filling fuller for longer.
All Barilla pasta is made with non-GMO ingredients.
