Step 1
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Toss the shrimp in a medium bowl with 1 tsp of salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
Step 2
Heat the oil over a medium-high flame in a large, heavy skillet.
Step 3
Add the shrimp and sauté until just cooked through, about 2 minutes. Transfer the shrimp using a slotted spoon to a large plate and set aside.
Step 4
Add the onion to the same skillet and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the tomatoes with their juices, wine, garlic, and oregano, and simmer until the sauce thickens, about 10 minutes.
Step 5
Meanwhile, add the Barilla Penne Rigate pasta to the boiling salted water and cook until al dente, about 10 minutes.
Step 6
Drain, add the cooked Barilla Penne Rigate pasta to the sauce, and stir to coat. Add the shrimp and the accumulated juices to the saucepan and stir to combine.
Step 7
Remove the pan from the heat and toss in the parsley and basil. Season with more salt to taste and serve.

Penne Rigate
Penne is one of the most famous Italian pasta shapes and is beloved across Italy. Penne, which means 'pen' in Italian, gets its name from its shape. The tube shape with angled ends was inspired by the quill of an old-style ink pen. Its ridged tubes are perfect for capturing sauces and the rugged texture adds depth to dishes, making it a popular choice for baked pasta dishes and hearty sauces.
