1 box | Barilla Linguine |
50 | fresh littleneck clams |
6 tbsp | extra virgin olive oil, divided |
2 cloves | garlic, chopped |
1/2 tsp | red chili pepper flakes |
1 cup | white wine |
1/2 cup | fresh Italian parsley, chopped |

This recipe can also be made using Barilla Spaghettoni pasta.
Method
Step 1
Soak clams in water and sea salt for 1 hour.
Step 2
Scrub well and rinse with fresh water.
Step 3
Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
Step 4
Heat half of the olive oil in a large skillet; add chopped garlic, red pepper flakes and sauté.
Step 5
Add clams and white wine; cover skillet with a lid.
Step 6
Cook over medium heat until the clams are completely open.
Step 7
Discard any closed clams and half of the shells. Leave some clams in the shell as a garnish.
Step 8
Cook Barilla Linguine pasta according to package directions, then drain, reserving some of the cooking water.
Step 9
Add Barilla Linguine pasta to the skillet with clams. Toss well, adding some of the cooking water if needed, until Barilla Linguine pasta is well-combined with the sauce.
Step 10
Stir in remaining olive oil, and sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
Linguine
Linguine is made from long, flat strands of pasta and is a close relative of Fettuccine, while being thinner and narrower. Linguine means “little tongues” in Italian and originated in the Liguria region of Italy. It pairs perfectly with seafood and light sauces.
