With this recipe, you can finesse an authentic ragù sauce from scratch—then toss with premium Barilla Spaghetti pasta to serve up a taste of Italy at dinner parties and family gatherings!

Ingredients

1 box | Barilla Spaghetti pasta |
2 oz | pancetta |
2 tbsp | extra virgin olive oil |
1 | medium onion, finely chopped |
2 | celery stalks, finely chopped |
1 | carrot, finely chopped |
1 clove | garlic, sliced |
1/2 lb | ground veal |
1/2 lb | ground pork |
3 oz | tomato paste |
1/2 cup | whole milk |
1/2 cup | dry white wine |
1/2 tsp | fresh thyme |

Method
Step 1
Grind pancetta in a food processor into medium-sized pieces.
Step 2
Heat olive oil in a 6-8 quart heavy-bottomed pot, over medium heat until hot.
Step 3
Add pancetta, onions, celery, carrots, and garlic.
Step 4
Cook until the vegetables are translucent but not browned, about 5 minutes.
Step 5
Add veal and pork and increase the heat to high. Brown the meat, stirring frequently.
Step 6
Add tomato paste, milk, wine, and thyme and bring just to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
Step 7
Season the ragu with salt and black pepper.
Step 8
Bring 6 quarts water to a boil and add 2 tbsp salt (optional).
Step 9
Transfer ragu to a 12-14 inch sauté pan and heat gently over medium heat.
Step 10
Cook the Barilla Spaghetti pasta according to the package directions until al dente.
Step 11
Drain Barilla Spaghetti pasta, then add it to the pan with the ragu and toss over medium heat until well-coated, about 1 minute.
Step 12
Divide evenly among 6-8 warmed bowls and serve with grated cheese.
