Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°F. Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Cook Barilla Lasagne pasta according to package directions, until al dente. Once cooked, set Barilla Lasagne pasta aside.
Step 2
Heat a large saucepan with olive oil over medium-high temp and add ground beef. Once beef is browned, add tomato paste and mix together until tomato paste is toasted. Add in tomato sauce, salt and pepper. Bring temp to low and let simmer for 25-30 minutes. In a medium bowl, combine ricotta, 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese and parsley. Mix together until combined.
Step 3
Cut Barilla Lasagne pasta in half. Keep the other half for later use. Add ricotta mixture to half of the pasta sheet, top with mozzarella cheese and roll. Repeat.
Step 4
Spray a muffin tray with cooking spray. Add rolled Barilla Lasagne pasta to a muffin tray and place in the centre of each tray.
Step 5
Take the other half of the Barilla Lasagne pasta and cut it lengthwise. Add mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce around the rolled pasta sheet in the tray. Add the lengthwise piece of Barilla Lasagne pasta around it. Repeat. Top with parmesan cheese.
Step 6
Bake Barilla Lasagne pasta roses for 30-35 minutes. Add extra tomato sauce to the bottom of a bowl. Remove Barilla Lasagne pasta roses from oven and add to the bowl. Top with fresh parmesan and basil to serve.
Lasagne
Lasagne, with its layered sheets, has roots in the Emilia-Romagna region of Northern Italy. Its versatility makes it a staple in Canadian kitchens, where it's used to create hearty meat-based baked dishes like classic lasagna or vegetarian alternatives. It's perfect for gatherings and family dinners. Lasagne is also a great make-ahead dish to prepare for the coming week or serve when hosting loved ones.
