Farfalle, dating back to the 1500s, originated in the Lombardia and Emilia-Romagna part of Northern Italy. Farfalle, which means “butterfly” in Italian, are rectangular or oval pieces of pasta that are pinched in the middle. Barilla Protein+™ Farfalle are versatile and are perfect in many dishes. Served hot, they're great with simple olive oil, butter, tomato and cheese-based sauces. Served cold, they are perfect for pasta salads.

Our Chef’s tip

Add a generous pinch of sea salt to the cooking water to enhance the pasta’s flavor.

Avoid adding oil to the water as it prevents sauce from clinging to the pasta.

COOKING YOUR PASTA

Cook Barilla Protein+™ Farfalle in boiling water 10 minutes, then drain and serve according to the recipe directions. For more tender pasta, boil an additional minute. Due to its higher protein content Protein+™ takes several more minutes to cook than traditional pasta.
