Perfect for ...

Farfalle pasta, dating back to the 1500s, originated in the Lombardia and Emilia-Romagna part of Northern Italy. Farfalle, which means “butterfly” in Italian, are typically rectangular or oval pieces of pasta that are pinched in the middle. Barilla Protein+® Farfalle is a versatile pasta shape that can be used in several dishes. Served hot, Farfalle pasta is delicious in a simple olive oil, butter, tomato or cheese-based sauce. Served cold, Farfalle is an excellent addition to your favorite pasta salad recipe. For more ways to use this pasta shape, check out these Farfalle pasta recipes

Our Chef’s tip

Add a generous pinch of sea salt to the cooking water to enhance the pasta’s flavor.

Avoid adding oil to the water as it prevents sauce from clinging to the pasta.

COOKING YOUR PASTA

Cook Barilla Protein+® Farfalle in boiling water 9 minutes, then drain and serve according to the recipe directions. For more tender pasta, boil an additional minute. Due to its higher protein content Protein+® takes several more minutes to cook than traditional pasta.
