Ingredients

Ingredients for 7 people
  • 1 box Barilla® Protein+™ Penne
  • 1 jar Barilla® Marinara Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 pound hot Italian sausage
  • 1/2 cup white wine
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup Romano cheese, grated

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil
  • Sauté chopped garlic and thyme with oil over medium heat until the garlic turns light yellow
  • Add sausage and sauté for 5 minutes or until browned and cooked through, breaking into pieces
  • Deglaze with white wine; reduce well
  • Add Marinara Sauce, a cup of water and simmer for ten minutes or until the sauce is at the right consistency
  • Cook pasta according to directions
  • Drain and toss with the sauce
  • Sprinkle with cheese before serving
